A few weeks after we moved into our new home we started having problems when we did our laundry. The water would back up and overflow into the house. It was awful. We had several plumbers come and snake the plumbing only to find out that where our lined tied into the main line was where the problem was. This happened to be in the middle of the street outside our house. So, we had to dig up the asphalt and get that replaced.
We have always had really slow drainage in the bathroom, but the rest of the house seemed to be draining fine. Well, 2 years later we started having problems when we did our laundry again. This time we found out that all the pipes were shot and the plumbing needed to be redone. Ammon spent several days on his back in our foot-deep crawl space changing all the plumbing. It's been draining like a dream ever since.
But for the last little while we have been having an undesirable smell rising up from under the house. Ammon was worried that his new plumbing was leaking, so he crawled back under the house a while. Everything was working fine, but in the front left corner of the house the ground was completely wet. We tried to use a fan to dry it out, but it didn't seem to help. So, Ammon started digging. He dug a big hole right next to the house, amongst my roses. Yep, it was definately wet. As luck would have it, Ammon actually found the problem before he had to dig up the entire front yard, but he has had to dig up a lot. Where we turn on our sprinklers was where the problem was. Lots and lots of water. But we have found the problem. It only took two large holes and a lot of time with Ammon's head below ground level. Poor guy.
All I know is that in our next house, I want the plumbing to already be brand new. But, if it isn't, I'm sure glad I'm married to the man I am married to. He can fix anything.
