The New Bed

A few weeks ago we decided it was time to help Cormac move from the crib to a toddler bed. The thing is, this boy adores his crib. He loves to sleep there. So I thought that in order to make the transition easier he needed a bed that was exciting and would be fun to sleep in. And thanks to KSL I found the perfect thing. A fire truck bed.

He loves the new bed. Really loves it. Except he won't sleep in it. It's been several weeks now and we still can't get him to sleep in it. We've moved him from the crib to the new bed a few times. He's woken up screaming and very offended each time. He continues crying until placed safely back in his crib. What a funny boy. Any advice is welcome. Leave a comment:)

He might be upset if you moved him while sleeping because when he wakes up he knows he's in a different place. Like if you fell asleep in bed and woke up on your couch and didn't know how it happened. When we made this transition for our kids, they could have the door open unless they got out of bed, then they had to have the door shut. It worked eventually. Except for Mark. He would climb out of his crib and sleep on the floor. When we gave him a bed, he slept on it...happy. Good luck. He'll get it.

Thelma's right...he'll get it!
Dallin had a hard time with the transition. I changed his bedtime routine a little. I would read a book to him then I would sing him a song until he went to sleep. It worked for him and for Calvin we did the paper chain thing. Where he would get a link on his chain everytime he stayed in his bed the whole night. Then when it got a few links on it (you can decide how long) then we gave him some kind of reward. That worked for Calvin.
Good luck!
